Green Chile Smoked Party Mix
We first served this Green Chile Smoked Party Mix as part of the soft product launch for our Revolution Barbecue Green Chile Seasoning at a street fair in Denver. People kept coming back for another serving, and throughout the event we kept getting asked whether we sold the party mix. We did not, but that kind of response made it clear that we needed to share the recipe.
This party mix has the crisp, buttery character we want from a smoked snack. Revolution Barbecue Green Chile Seasoning gives it a savory green chile flavor without turning the mix spicy. Oak or hickory smoke adds a noticeable barbecue character that works well with the seasoning.
Bugles were a fun addition to this batch. Their cone shape gives the mix more visual variety while adding a complementary crunch. They also have plenty of ridges and hollow spaces for catching the seasoned ghee. Cheez-It crackers add a light, cheesy crunch, while pretzel bites provide a firm, salty bite. The result is a party mix that travels well, can be prepared ahead of time, and proved difficult for people to stop eating after one serving.

A good smoked party mix should be crisp, evenly seasoned, and easy to enjoy one serving at a time. Corn Chex, Rice Chex, and Wheat Chex each provide a slightly different texture, while Bugles, Cheez-It crackers, and pretzel bites keep every bite interesting.
Ghee provides the richness of butter without adding much moisture, helping protect the cereal’s texture during smoking and after cooling. Unsalted butter can also be used, but ghee remains our preferred choice when preparing the party mix ahead of time. The neutral oil helps distribute the seasoning across the different shapes without weighing them down.
The pellet smoker adds a noticeable layer of wood-fired flavor without making the party mix bitter. Oak produces a steady, clean smoke character, while hickory gives the mix a stronger barbecue presence. Revolution Barbecue Green Chile Seasoning provides savory chile flavor without adding a lot of heat. Stirring the mixture regularly redistributes the seasoned ghee and gives the Bugles, cereal, crackers, and pretzel bites equal exposure to the smoke.

Ingredients
3 cups Corn Chex cereal
3 cups Rice Chex cereal
3 cups Wheat Chex cereal
1 cup Bugles Original Corn Snacks
1 cup Cheez-It crackers
1 cup pretzel bites
1/2 cup ghee or unsalted butter, melted
1/4 cup neutral oil
- 3 tablespoons Revolution Barbecue Green Chile Seasoning
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
Directions
- Prepare the Pellet Smoker: Set the pellet smoker to 250 degrees Fahrenheit using oak or hickory wood pellets.
- Prepare the Pan: Line a sheet pan with aluminum foil, or use a half-size aluminum tray.
- Combine the Party Mix: Add the Corn Chex, Rice Chex, Wheat Chex, Bugles, Cheez-It crackers, and pretzel bites directly to the prepared pan.
- Season the Party Mix: Pour the melted ghee or unsalted butter and neutral oil over the mixture. Sprinkle evenly with Revolution Barbecue Green Chile Seasoning, drizzle with the Worcestershire sauce, and gently stir until everything is thoroughly coated.
- Smoke the Party Mix: Place the uncovered pan in the pellet smoker and cook for 90 minutes. Stir the mixture every 15 minutes to redistribute the seasoning and promote even smoke exposure.
- Cool the Party Mix: Remove the pan from the smoker and allow the party mix to cool completely. Serve immediately or transfer it to an airtight container for storage.
