Ingredients
1 pound ground beef (we used Prosper Meats Prosper Blend)
½ teaspoon Kosher salt
1/2 cup diced white onion
1/2 cup diced green bell pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon Revolution Barbecue Kansas City BBQ Rub
4 hoagie rolls
8 slices American cheese
Butter, softened
Directions
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, seasoning it with kosher salt. Once fully cooked, drain any excess fat and return the skillet to the stove. Add the diced onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the beef, cooking for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and Revolution Barbecue Kansas City BBQ Rub. Pour this sauce into the skillet with the beef and vegetables, stirring well to combine. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes until it thickens slightly.
Preheat a griddle or non-stick skillet over medium heat. Spread softened butter on the cut sides of the hoagie rolls and place them face-down on the griddle. Toast until golden and crisp.
Spoon the BBQ beef mixture generously onto the bottom halves of the toasted hoagie rolls. Top each portion of beef with two slices of American cheese, allowing the cheese to melt slightly from the warmth of the meat. Cover with the top half of the roll. Serve immediately and enjoy the perfect Kansas City Style BBQ Sloppy Joe Sandwich.
